Makeba Rutahindurwa is an associate in Elias Law Group's Litigation practice. She works to advance ELG’s mission of helping Democrats win, citizens vote, and progressives make change.
Prior to joining ELG, Makeba litigated civil rights cases as a Justice Fellow at Loevy & Loevy in Chicago. She also spent a year as a judicial law clerk for Judge Andrew Gordon of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. While in law school, she spent a summer as a legal intern at the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and participated in the International Human Rights and Immigrants’ Rights clinics. Prior to beginning her legal education, she worked at the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division as Special Assistant to the Assistant Attorney General and as a paralegal at the ACLU Center for Justice, both in Washington DC.
Makeba is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Tufts University. She is based out of ELG’s Seattle, Washington location.
