Irfan Mahmud works in elections and voting rights with the Political Law group serving candidates, campaigns, party committees, PACs, and tax-exempt organizations. Irfan is admitted to practice law by the Virginia Bar.
Before joining the firm, Irfan worked with the Political Law Group at Perkins Coie as a summer intern for two years, including during the 2020 general elections. He also has experience working in federal government and volunteering on campaigns. Irfan graduated with a JD with honors from Harvard Law School where he was elected student body president and with an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was a Knight-Hennessy Scholar and Stanford Impact Leader.
Before graduate school, Irfan worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. and with the United Nations in Nairobi. He graduated with a degree in economics from Harvard College, where he was an elected Class Marshal and on the board of the Harvard Institute of Politics.
He is based out of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
