Rebecca Mears is an associate in the Political Law practice. Rebecca helps clients navigate state and federal campaign finance and election laws, nonprofit tax compliance, and specializes in defending political advertisements. Rebecca regularly advises clients on matters before the Federal Election Commission and has extensive experience with helping political clients negotiate contracts.
Prior to ELG, Rebecca worked in the political law group at Perkins Coie LLP counseling officeholders, candidates, political action committees, and nonprofit organizations. While a law student at Stanford, she interned at the Brennan Center for Justice, the California Attorney General’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office in Washington D.C.
Rebecca has a J.D. from Stanford Law School, an M.P.A. from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a bachelor’s in Political Science and Public Policy from Brown University where she graduated magna cum laude. Rebecca works out of ELG’s Washington D.C. office where she works every day to advance ELG’s mission of helping Democrats win, citizens vote, and progressives make change.
