Elias Law Group Celebrates First Anniversary

Today, Elias Law Group celebrated its first anniversary after an inaugural year marked by tremendous growth and significant pro-democratic and progressive victories.

“I could not be more proud of the law firm we have built, the incredible commitment of our attorneys and staff, and how far we have come over the last year,” said Managing Partner Hannah Eaves. “Elias Law Group was founded as a mission-driven law firm, with top-notch talent to provide the legal services our clients need to meet today’s political challenges. This team has risen to the occasion time and again, delivering excellent counsel to our clients and securing critical victories in state and federal court to protect voting rights.”

Already the nation’s largest law firm dedicated to representing Democrats and progressive organizations, Elias Law Group now employs 76 attorneys, which marks 50% growth since inception one year ago. The firm has also grown to include over 45 professional staff members.

Over 900 clients and counting have hired Elias Law Group since the firm began operations in September 2021, establishing the firm’s reputation as the go-to law firm for organizations and individuals aligned with the firm’s mission to help Democrats win, citizens vote, and progressives make change.

Elias Law Group’s political law practice provides strategic partnership and counsel to campaigns, candidates, elected officials, and political organizations at all levels of government. The practice is representing over 50 statewide and federal campaigns that are on the ballot in 2022.

The firm is also home to the largest litigation practice dedicated to defending democracy and advocating for progressive causes, with an experienced team of litigators specializing in voting rights, redistricting, and constitutional law. The practice is currently litigating more than 40 cases in state and federal court and has won 15 cases since ELG launched last year. These victories have made it easier for eligible Americans to cast their ballots and ensured fair maps were drawn during the decennial redistricting process.

Driven by a firm-wide commitment to diversity and inclusion, more than half of all attorneys and partners at Elias Law Group are women, and more than one third of all attorneys are black, indigenous, and people of color. The firm’s Managing Partner, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief of Staff to the Founder are all women who served on active duty in the United States military prior to joining the firm.

This month, Elias Law Group moved into the firm’s permanent home, a 54,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art office space in the new Capitol Crossing development in downtown Washington, D.C.

“The 2022 and 2024 election cycles will determine whether our country is able to weather an unprecedented threat to our democracy. While the stakes could not be higher, every day I am encouraged by the drive, determination and integrity of our attorneys and professional staff. Our story is just beginning, and I am excited to continue fighting for democracy alongside this amazing team,” said Founding Partner Marc Elias.
